Information about the Botanical Garden

      The Botanical Garden is located in the south-eastern part of Tashkent and is a separate ecosystem of 65 hectares. It has a collection of living plants (gene pool) and is valued as the most unique object in the country.

The Botanical Garden has 43 hectares of arboretum, 5 hectares of ornamental nurseries currently used for landscaping, 1 hectare of gene pool of tropical and subtropical plants, as well as greenhouses, and 16 hectares of protected trees around the area. Dendropark is based on the division of the plant world on the natural earth (Engler systematics).

The Botanical Garden has more than 10 km of main corridors. Consisting of 6 blocks, together with the laboratory building, the Fund Greenhouse, which occupies an area of 1,200 m2, maintains its greenery even in winter with a collection of tropical and subtropical plants.

Currently, the Botanical Garden has 3 scientific laboratories with 110 employees. Of these, 20 are researchers, 2 doctors of sciences, 10 candidates of sciences, 7 junior researchers. In the last 3 years, 1 doctoral and 4 candidate dissertations have been defended, and these researchers are effectively continuing their research work.

Monitoring of the effective work of management and research staff is carried out systematically by the leadership of the Academy of Sciences and the newly established Ministry of Innovation Development.

Research in Botanical Gardens on the introduction of medicinal plants in providing the medical and pharmaceutical industries with medicinal plant species without harming natural plant populations has been yielding effective results in the Health System. Scientific research with ornamental plants plays an important role in beautifying cities and parks, improving urban infrastructure and environmental conditions.Local and imported plants grown in the expositions of the Botanical Gardens have a unique place in the educational system in shaping the ecological education of the younger generation, changing their attitude to nature in a positive way.
