Common wormwood is found in all parts of Europe, Central and Central Asia, North Africa. Occurs in all regions of Russia.

Botanical description of the plant

A representative of the family of complex flowers. Perennial grass. The stem is straight. Blooms in summer. Height up to 0.5-2m, sometimes 2.5m. The leaves are 5-20 cm long. The leaves are green. The leaves at the top of the branches are light or dark green in color. The leaves at the top and bottom of the stem differ from each other in color. The leaves at the top of the stem are simple and slightly crushed. The flowers are small, yellow or brown. It blooms from July to September. Fruit doncha. The fruits ripen in July-October.

Medicinal properties

The herb and root part are used in folk medicine in homeopathy in epilepsy, tuberculous meningitis and diseases in women. The root contains inulin, sugar, mucous substances, oils and about 0.1% of essential oils.

Growing technology

Seeds are sown in a greenhouse in April. From mid-May they are transferred to open ground. Not demanding on food. Grows well in bright places. Seedlings are planted at a distance of 40 cm from each other. Excessive watering, which is not demanding to water, will cause negative changes in the plant. Therefore, water can be used only when the soil moisture is gone.
