Botanical description of the plant
The plant is annual or biennial, rarely annual or semi-annual shrub, up to 0.5-3 m tall. The leaves are mostly whole. The flowers are 5-leafed, mostly yellow, sometimes orange, brown-red, blue and white. The fruit is small, spherical, with many seeds.
Medicinal properties
Flowers are used in medicine. Tincture made from flowers is used in the treatment of upper respiratory tract, herbal preparations are used in veterinary medicine. In folk medicine, cowtail flowers are used as an antitussive, anti-inflammatory and emollient in the upper respiratory tract. Growing technology
It grows well in sunny places, as well as in semi-shady places. Propagated by seeds. Small seeds are sown in the soil in late spring. Once the first grasses are visible, the strongest of them are removed. Seedling spacing is 20-25 cm. Seedlings are watered moderately. A year after planting, the plant begins to bloom. When transplanting biennial seedlings are taken without separating them from the soil. Excessive moisture adversely affects the development of the plant. Before sowing the seeds in the soil, the soil is treated with mineral fertilizers, and large seedlings are treated with mineral and organic fertilizers.
