The homeland of the white carp is the Mediterranean, the Iberian Peninsula. It is widespread throughout the world and in Central Asia as a weed in the southern parts of the European part of Russia, in the Caucasus, in the southern parts of Western Siberia. In the pharmaceutical industry, the surface is used.
Belonging to the White Carrak family, it is a member of the Astradosh family. An annual (as a cultivated plant) or biennial thorny plant, reaching 1-1.5 m in height. Stems simple or branched, glabrous. Leaves elliptical, large (up to 80 cm in length) with yellow spines on the edges. The flowers are purple, pink or white, united in a single umbrella inflorescence. It blooms in July-August.
In medicine, oil extracted from seeds, alcohol and aqueous extracts, phyto-teas extracted from the fruit are used. Its fruits are used as medicinal raw materials. White caraway preparations improve bile production. And has a hepatoprotective effect. It is used as a treatment in diseases of the liver, spleen, gallstones, jaundice, chronic cough and other diseases.
Propagated by seeds. Depth of sowing seeds is taken as 2cm. The first grasses begin to appear in 10–13 days. White caraway seeds are sown in open ground in mid-March or early April, the top is covered with a polyethylene bag. Seeds can be harvested 5-6 months after flowering. The plant retains its viability when transplanted. The spacing of seedlings is 50 cm.
