Hind nastarini

Lagerstremia Indian, or Indian lilac (Lagerstroemia indica) is a plant species from the genus Lagerstremia. The flowers are large, white, pink, crimson or purple, collected in inflorescences. The leaves are oval, 4-8 cm long, dark green above, light green below. The fruit is a rounded box with 6 seeds. The plant reaches 10 m in height in the open ground. Despite the name, the plant is native to China. An ornamental plant used in the design of parks and greenhouses. Lagerstremia Indian extract is used for cosmetic purposes. The flowering of the Indian lagerstremia with larger, lush inflorescences is observed during the annual specific pruning. Flower buds in lagerstremia are laid on the shoots of the current year, so pruning is carried out during the dormant period, before the beginning of the growing season (February – early March). Strong annual shoots are shortened by ⅔ lengths, weak ones growing inside the crown and damaged ones are cut "into a ring". With a strong shortening of shoots, there is a delay in flowering for an average of 10-15 days, unlike flowering with moderate and weak pruning. Indian Lagerstremia is perhaps one of the best beautifully flowering woody plants on the Black Sea coast. The culture deserves the attention of bree ders, the breeding of winter hardy forms will allow the use of this valuable breed in urban landscaping of more northern regions.
