The plants of the greenhouse complex, part of the territorial and structural subdivision of the Tashkent Botanical Garden named after Academician F.N. Rusanov of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, are included in the garden's collection and include mainly tropical, subtropical and perennial indoor flowers. The greenhouse complex was founded in 1976 and consists of 6 large blocks with a total area of 1,776 m2. These units have a height of 5.5 m, a width of 7 m, a length of 42 m and consist of 3 racks and 2 internal aisles. Its main 3 sections are designed for the care of mother flowers, and the remaining 3 consist of sections with special racks for cutting mother flowers and conducting various experiments on plants. Currently, more than 140 species of various perennial tropical and subtropical plants from 37 families and 87 genera have been preserved, which are constantly being monitored. Of particular importance is the adaptation of indoor flowers, most of which are imported and introduced from other countries.
The works carried out in the greenhouse include:
- ensuring the viability of existing species in the greenhouse, as well as protection from external influences (providing indoor flowers with heat of average temperature in winter, watering flowers throughout the year, protection from summer heat);
- care (fertilizing with organic and mineral fertilizers in spring);
- disease and pest control;
- reproduction (generative and vegetative) and cultivation, observation of them and a number of other works. Indoor flowers bloom mostly all year round, the initial ripening of their seeds begins in May, and the ripe seeds are harvested. Each plant is distinguished by its decorative effect, adaptability to climatic conditions and, of course, medicinal and healing properties.
