Tashkent Botanical Garden named after Academician F.N. Rusanov at the Institute of Botany of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan S.Kh. Abdinazarov and Director of the Institute of Botany of the Republic of Uzbekistan K.Sh. Within the framework of the Memorandum No. UN-3314-2023-5 "On Scientific and Educational Cooperation" concluded in July 2025 with the Botanical Garden of the Republic of Georgia, from July 3 to July 10 of this year, a business trip was carried out to the Botanical Garden of Batumi to exchange experience, study herbariums, and exchange collected plant materials.
The following activities are expected during the scientific trip:
1. Study and scientific exchange of herbarium collections is carried out:
• Familiarization with the existing herbarium fund of the Batumi Botanical Garden;
• conducting scientific analysis based on the comparison of flora species of Uzbekistan and Georgia;
2. Exchange of collected plant materials:
Selection of collection plant species suitable for the climate;
• Discussion of conditions for plant introduction in both gardens;
3. Exchange of experience and scientific and practical training:
• Landscape design, ecosystem restoration, and exhibition organization
Studying the experience of the Batumi Park;
•Uzbekistan and Georgia on the protection of plant resources
analysis of modern approaches;
4. Determination of areas of further cooperation:
• Bilateral training courses in the field of botany, joint
preparation of a plan for expeditions and scientific publications;
• Joint international scientific seminar planned for 2026
and preparation of exhibitions.
Expected results:
Scientific study of flora species of Uzbekistan and Georgia and herbariums
enrichment with;
Exchange of collectible plant materials between botanical gardens
Implementation;
Intensification of international exchange of experience in the field of landscape, exhibition and floristic research;
Joint research and development based on scientific cooperation in 2025-2026
implementation of publications;
- Establishing new scientific contacts with foreign scientists.
